“Most people stiffen with self-consciousness when they pose for a photograph. Lighting and fine camera equipment are useless if the photographer cannot make them drop the mask, at least for a moment, so he can capture on his film their real, undistorted personality and character. ”
In September 2000, Charles Shearn (a.k.a. Charlie) left the automotive industry to become a freelance photographer. Having studied at Central Saint Martins, he quickly established himself with an enviable no-nonsense reputation.
Time and again he is commended for his disarming and friendly nature, for his ability to tease out a great photograph from even the most awkward subject. He is based in North London.
